Weddings are done on request. The Lodge is children friendly and baby sitting is available at your own cost. Team Building activities can be arranged on request, including bush walks with a professional guide and bush picnics and dinners.

Fly into Nelspruit or Skukuza

By road from the nearest town
Make your way for approximately 8 kilometres through the town of Komatipoort, rumoured to be one of the hottest towns in South Africa, towards the Crocodile Bridge gate (swimming not recommended), and you are officially in the Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s largest game reserves. Travel for another 4 kilometres and until you cross the Vurhami Bridge (keep a look out for the big 5, they’re out there). Keep a look out too for a right turn at the first Shishangeni Lodge sign onto a gravel road –things may get a bit bumpy until the next right turn at the second sign board for Shishangeni Lodge (it says no entry but you may drive through)! Continue for another 10 kilometres, which will take you straight to the lodge – you’ve arrived!

Shawu Bush Camp

The Camp can accommodate 10 guests in 5 spacious rooms overlooking the Mpanamana dam. The large verandah is the perfect spot from which to watch the game come down to drink. The central facility consists of a charming lounge area including a both indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Camp Shawu named after the most famous of the African elephants, the Magnificent Seven. 'Shawu bull' roamed the valley here for sixty years. With the longest tusks ever recorded in South Africa, Shawu commanded instinctive respect and admiration from all who gazed upon him. Those lucky enough to have encountered this awe-inspiring bull say he took your breath away. Camp Shawu aims to do the same.

With authentic buffalo dung walls, Camp Shawu captures the spirit of the ‘real Africa’ described by famous explorers of colonial times.

Shishangeni Private Lodge

Shishangeni Private Lodge has 22 individual chalets accommodating 44 guests, with inter-leading rooms for families and mini bar available upon request.

The central facility consists of a private game-viewing deck, charming lounge area, gym, spa and both indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Enjoy early morning or late afternoon game drives in search of the 'Big 5' with an expert guide. Afterwards, return to camp to share your stories while you dine on traditional cuisine around a roaring boma fire under the stars of the African sky.

Shonga Bush Camp

Camp Shonga is a small intimate bush retreat built in the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains, offering views over the African bushveld. The central facility consists of a charming lounge area including a library and both indoor and outdoor dining area.

The Camp can accommodate 10 guests in 5 individual tents. Shonga allows you to experience the real Africa - majestic, unfiltered and unadorned.

CHILD POLICY:

  • Children under 6 years stay free when sharing with parents.
  • Children aged 6 – 11 years price is for sharing with parents.
  • Restaurant menus will cater for children.
  • Subject to availability of suitable accommodation and maximum 2 children sharing a bedroom with 2 adults:
  • Where bedrooms cannot accommodate children sharing with adults, 2 rooms need to be booked in which case the single rate would apply to children’s room.


Children of all ages are welcome at Shishangeni main lodge but not at Shawu or Shonga.
Children above the age of 16 will be allowed at Shonga and Shawu.

ADDITIONAL RATES:

  • Children under 6 years stay free when sharing with parents, 2 children sharing per bedroom with 2 adults
  • Where bedrooms cannot accommodate children sharing with adults, 2 rooms need to be booked in which case the single rate will apply to children’s room
  • Children under the age of 16 years are welcome at Shishangeni main lodge but not at Camp Shawu or Shonga

WHEN SHARING WITH 2 PARENTS / ADULTS THE RATES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • 0 - 5 yrs Free of Charge (may not permitted on game drives)
  • 6 - 11 yrs 50% of Contracted adult rate.(Management will give permission for them to join a game drive)
  • 12 and above will be charged full adult rate.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • Cancellations made 7-14 days of arrival will be charged one (1) night’s accommodation, at the
  • Cancellations made 0-6 days of arrival will be charged 100%.
  • All no shows will be charged at 100% of the total value of the booking.

Gate Times: 06H00 to 17H30 in winter & 05H30 to 18H30 in Summer.

Please ensure that you enter the park at least 1 hour prior to the gate closing.

GROUPS:

  • +90 Days prior to arrival the agent has the right to cancel or amend the tour or confirm number of rooms booked without penalty.
  • 60 - 90 days prior to arrival, the hotel will levy a 25% charge of the full value of the group booked should the entire group be cancelled.
  • 30 - 60 days prior to arrival, the hotel will levy a 50% charge of the full value of the group booked should the entire group be cancelled.
  • 30 - 60 days prior to arrival, the agent has the right to reduce or confirm number of rooms booked without penalty provided that it does not exceed 50% of the total number of rooms booked. The hotel reserves the right to levy a 50% charge of the full value of the reduced rooms booked should the groups’ final numbers be reduced by 50% or more of the original number of rooms booked.
  • -30 days prior to arrival, the hotel will levy a 100% charge of the full value of the group booked should the entire group be cancelled.
  • -30 days prior to arrival, the hotel reserves the right to levy a 100% charge of the full value of the reduced rooms booked should the groups’ final numbers be reduced by 20% or more of the original number of rooms booked.
  • All no shows will be charged at 100% of the total value of the booking.


OTHER
• Cancellations made within 96 hours of arrival will be charged one (1) night’s accommodation, at the reserved room rate.
• All no-shows will be charged for accommodation for the total stay period, at the reserved room rate.

PAYMENT 

  • Full payment is required 40 days prior to arrival. For bookings made within 40 days of travel, full payment is required on confirmation
  • We have the right to request deposits or full payment in advance in the case of large groups, long stays, peak periods or high occupancy

Our camps offer big five game viewing, superior service, excellent cuisine, and accommodation to rival any in Southern Africa. We are striving to create the optimum balance between people and their environment, whilst having a minimal impact on the surrounding habitat.

The Shishangeni Spa

Guests staying at any one of our three camps can book a range of relaxation massages. The lodges have a team of therapists from the Shishangeni Spa that offer treatments including Aromatherapy Massages, Indian Head Massages and Foot Massages. The treatments can be done in the privacy of one's bedroom or on the room balconies.

Take a splash

Take a dip in the main swimming pool or cool off in between safari activites in splash pools at each of the three camps.

The Big 5

Enjoy early morning or late afternoon game drives in search of the 'Big 5' with an expert guide. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa and is best known for the 'Big Five' - imagine taking in a magnificent sunset whilst you capture the moment of a pride of lions stalking their prey or possibly watching a buffalo or elephant strolling to a water hole. The rhino, with its extraordinary horns and bad temper or the leopard with its remarkable speed and skill to hunt.

Bird watching

With such a variety of species of birds this truly is a bird watching haven. The Kruger National Park is home to more than 500 species of birds, Many of which are migratory birds like the African Hoepoe. This is also the home of the Giant Eagle Owl, the largest of all the Owls. Birds to spot include Kingfishers, Storks, Shrikes, Weavers, Herons, Eagles, Vultures, Kites and many more.
