The Simbavati Hilltop Lodge offers a pure African safari, and comprises of individual pavilion-style luxury tents, arranged to create a unique village feel. From the vantage point of the beautiful small koppie on which the lodge is situated one can enjoy magnificent views of the bush, the Nhlaralumi River and the distant foothills of the Drakensberg Mountain Range..

Each suite comprises two individual tents – one for the main bedroom, and a separate bathroom, which is linked by a passage that can be opened up on one side – allowing for an indoor or private outdoor shower experience. Privacy is guaranteed thanks to the careful placement of the tented-suites, ensuring a tranquil and intimate stay.

Conservation Levies and Additional Reserve Fees (subject to change).

  • Klaserie Bed Levy of R150 per person per night.

Child Policy (Children of all ages are welcome):

  • Between 0 – 3 years; no charge and includes all meals
  • Between 4 – 11 years: 50% of per person sharing rate when sharing with parents in family chalets
  • 12 years & older sharing with parents in family chalets; 3rd​/4th​ person rate applicable
  • Child sharing with a parent in a Luxury Safari Tent: per person sharing rate applicable
  • Children 6 years & over are allowed on Game Drives. Families with younger children may arrange a private vehicle prior to arrival. Please ask us for our Children’s activities, if you require further information.

Simbavati Trail Camp Transfers

Scheduled Transfers are compulsory (no private cars can drive to the camp).

Collection Time from Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (HDS) – 13:45.

Departure Time from Simbavati Trails Camp – 11:00.

Kindly note that there is only one daily return transfer from HDS.

Self-drive guests will also have to use this transfer. If you are planning to drop a rental car at Hoedspruit Airport, please ensure that you arrive well before the scheduled departure time, as unfortunately we cannot wait for late arrivals. The transfer time is approximately 11⁄2 hour.

Some of the private suites are situated to avail of the breathtaking views, and are therefore accessible via steep stairs. For the mobility impaired, please ensure that you stipulate your needs when booking.

Activities at Simbavati Hilltop Lodge


Big 5 game activities in the early morning and late afternoon/evening, taking advantage of the time of day that the animals are naturally most active. Nocturnal creatures - including the big cats - are regular sightings at night. Currently over 40 mammal species are listed as resident in the Timbavati, including the Big 5 - Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant, as well as endangered species including Wild Dogs and Cheetah. There is an abundance of birdlife, with a total of 360 species of bird listed.

Your day includes:

  • Early morning tea/coffee, a selection of fresh fruit and pastries on the deck overlooking the river
  • Game activity (approximately 3+ hours) including a coffee/tea stop in the bush
  • Mid-morning breakfast/brunch (continental and full hot breakfast)
  • Leisure time – enjoy the use of the infinity pool overlooking spectacular views of the distant Drakensberg Mountains. Alternatively, relax in the lounge/bar area, avail of the free Wi-Fi on offer, or simply allow your mind to wander while sipping a refreshing cocktail, and watching the wildlife at the Nhlaralumi River.

Full Body Treatment

Inspired by traditional yoga movements, this massage works effectively with body re-alignments of the spine by performing stretching movements. This

Payment:

  • 10% deposit is due within 7 days (for FIT) or 25% within 14 days (for Groups) from date of reservation to guarantee the booking. Easter and Christmas periods’ bookings require a 25% non-refundable deposit.

  • The balance is to be settled 30 days prior to the arrival at the lodge..

Cancellation fees (up to 3 rooms, for 4 or more rooms see T & C’s):

  • All cancellations and changes have to be in writing

  • Up to 61 days prior to arrival: 10% cancellation fee (total booking value)

  • 31 to 60 days prior to arrival: 25% cancellation fee (total booking value)
